A Collaborative Multi-Agent Framework for Internet-Based Teleoperation Systems

چکیده
This paper presents a conceptual model of an agent (called Collaborator Agent) intended to design collaborative software architectures based on multi-agent systems. The authors’ model combines astutely two research areas: Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) and Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). The particularity of their approach is the division of the collaborative process into three spaces according to Ellis’ 3C model: communication, coordination and production. In their work, the authors extend the 3C model by adding a fourth space: collaboration. Hence, the authors present a model based on four types of agents (collaboration, communication, coordination and production) supporting the whole set of collaborative tasks. The model is used to create the conceptual software architecture of their MAS. The authors apply their conceptual model on the ARITI-C system for collaborative online robot teleoperation. Finally, the authors present a quantitative evaluation of the collaboration process in ARITI-C. A Collaborative Multi-Agent Framework for Internet-Based Teleoperation Systems

متن کاملA New Interface for Collaborative Teleoperation
This paper presents a conceptual architecture and a new interface developed for collaborative teleoperation via Internet. This interface is based on a MAS (Multi-Agent System) devoted to collaboration. The MAS formalism is based on a new approach combining astutely two research area: MAS and CSCW (Computer Supported Collaborative Work). In the first area, a formal model of the MAS (Ferber appro...
متن کاملModelling and Evaluation of a Multi-agent System for a Collaboration
We present a model of the MAS (Multi-Agent System) devoted to collaborative teleoperation architectures. The proposed MAS formalism is based on a new approach combining astutely two research area: MAS and CSCW (Computer Supported Collaborative Work). In the first area, a formal model of the MAS (Ferber approach) is used to give us features of the agent. The second area provides us a useful appr...
متن کاملAn Architecture for Modeling Internet-Based Collaborative Agent Systems
This paper describes an architecture for modeling cooperating systems of communicating agents. The authors’ goal is not that of providing a framework to implement multi-agents systems (there are tools—such as CORBA, Java and DCOM—that do an excellent job on that), but rather to provide an architectural metaphor upon which collaborative multi-agent systems could be modeled. The approach is based...
متن کاملAsynchronous Robot Teleoperation via the Internet: Mobile Agent Approach
We have developed a framework for asynchronous mobile robot teleoperation using the Planet mobile object system. Planet enables asynchronous object passing, so that network bandwidth is used effectively and that such parameters as the network condition and server states have less effect on the system. We have used this framework to design an asynchronous mobile robot teleoperation system and ha...
